Hi, I dont know if any of you guys remember me, but Im currently working on a map for Crysis. I have worked with GRIM - General on GRAW maps back when that was the game out. But I'm here to show off my map pictures for you all to see and hope to get some feed back. Also I took 10 of my best SS I have taken and put them in a another zip for background pictures. Most of them are 1680 x 914 *thats the res. my game is at in the editor*, but there are a few 1680 x 986 or something like that. They look really good if you just center the picture on your desktop apposed to stretching them, or tiling them.

Here is a write up I did over at crymod for my map:
"I decided to do a little write up of my map for ya. I know I did one before but I think I should better explain it. As you guys can see, you have a pretty detailed island that i made, using geocontrol and about 4 complete repaints of the island. It currently has a Intro cutscene and 3 objectives with some sub-objectives.

The one thing that I have been working on alot is the reinforcements. Im trying to make them as realistic as I can. What I mean is, if the guys at the beach call in the reinforcements, they wont be there in 2 seconds from behind some random mountain. Im actually making the guys come from somewhere on the map and it will take some time before they actually show up. Which mean, that you can have the beach cleared and you could be somewhere else, before the reinforcements even get there which I think is something that could realistically happen. But The cool thing about it is the next time the reinforcements get called. Depending on how you play out there first calling, will effect there second calling. So, lets say you have them called for the beach, and you go all out and wait for them to come, and you kill all the reinforcement guys, and the helicopters that come with them. When you get to the village, and they call in the reinforcements, you will get a different group of guys to come, than if you were to take the beach at a stealth approach or you were to not kill at the reinforcements from the first call. I think that will add some interesting fights for people.

As for the objectives and the mission I have set up, I'm trying to make it as free going as possible. The only Objective I have that you need to do first is the beach objective. After that, Im going to leave the rest up to you. You will have 2 areas that you need to rescue hostages from, a Harbor to clear out for extractions, a Radar Jammer that you will need to take out and if you want, an airfield to clear out. You can do this in any order that you feel like. If you want to go around and take out the Harbor first, then the research center, then the village you are free to. If you want to go to the village, then cut over to the harbor, then lastly the research center be my guest too. But Im going to try and make it so that what you chose, will have an effect on your mission, so you will need to plan out what you want to do.

As for the AI goes, I was really planning on having some aliens in the map, because I liked to fight the little troopers. I though they were very well balanced for this game. Not to tough to take out, and had a mean attack. But after reading alot of threads on the aliens, I see that no one really likes the aliens, and from the 2 responses I got on the question if I should put aliens in or not, they were both no. So They wont be in the map to fight. Frown Sorry for the people who like to fight them. As for the NK troops go, I didnt over load the map with them. There is still a good amount of them to fight, but its not too over done. The beach set only has about 7 - 10 guys depending on how you go, the village has about 15 - 20, the research center will have about 20 - 25 guys and the harbor will only have 15 - 20. The airfield will be very limited, and you may not even have to fight any guys depending on how you take the reinforcement calls as most of them will be coming from that area.

As for completion of the map, I still have some work to do. I have pretty much the village all done, it just needs some more props added to it, and some touchup on the AI. The beach as well, is almost finish. Again, it needs more props, and the AI needs to be touched up. The research center has most of the guys layed, and the scientist you need to rescue are almost all layed as well. You will not need to escort them out as a VTOL will come and pick them up when they are rescued and the area is cleared out. As for other stuff to do on the research center, I need to work on the reinforcement call for that area, again set up the AI (which includes adding AI and making them "Alive" in the environment), and it needs heavy props (havent really layed any yet). The Harbor hasnt really been touched yet at all. It has 2 building, a crate crain and thats about all. The airfield is pretty much done. It has all its props that I want to add, and I just need to work on the AI around there and thats all thats left for that. I wont get around to working on the airfield AI or the Harbor until I get the beach, the village and the research center all done and working right. After I get all the objectives working and whatnot, I will work on the intro cutscene *which is done, but am currently having problems with skipping it* and the ending cutscene, which I have a great idea for but will take time to set it up and actually get the timing all right.

Short note: A trailer video will be coming along within the next few weeks hopefully. Mecius was kind enough to offer to make the video for me. He has made some videos of his map which you can find over here. I will get that uploaded as soon as we make it, and get it edited."

awesome shots man! wish I had a pc capable of playin CRYSIS. we play lots of FAR CRY during the weekdays...look for the Grim servers.

I don't have Far Cry installed ATM. I also don't like to play that game online.. I tried it, and never liked it. Just like Crysis here. All I do is play the SP and map for that.
