As many of you know, Grim-General spends a lot of time working on other people's pcs. In the last couple of weeks, it has come to our attention that there are many new dangers out there, that normal security software is not detecting. This includes worms, trojans, keyloggers, and backdoor programs.

McAfee, Norton, Zone Alarm and many other popular security programs are not protecting systems like the should, and many spyware removers are not doing everything they say. These new programs that are out require no user activated downloads. You may be infected by simply loading a website page to veiw or by pop-up ads. Many are infected by pop up ads that say something like, "Your pc is infected. Please scan your pc now." Also, the majority of the spyware is automatically going into your system and disabling your security programs, and for most newer ones, you must remove the program manually.

Recommendations that everyone should follow.

1. Update your security programs frequently.

2. Back up any personal data that you cannot afford to lose to a disk. (Note: Flash drives, media drives, and extra hard drives can be compromised.)

3. Additional spyware and malware programs are need to use with your normal security programs. (Recommended free programs: Spyware Terminator, Spybot-Search and Destroy, CCleaner (best used with one of the previous programs), Adaware.

4. Schedule your programs to scan for viruses, trojans, and spyware daily. The quicker the program is detected the less damage that will be done.
